World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Deputy Lead, Forest Goal based in Washington, DC. This position supports the SVP to implement and manage a portfolio of initiatives and develop new strategic initiatives in pursuit of the Forest Goal. Works cross-functionally to ensure the right resources and collaborations are brought to bear against this portfolio. A complement to the SVP, the Deputy is a thought leader with internal and external profile and partnerships. The Deputy will also assist the SVP in the supervision of core team staff and initiative leaders. Also serves as point person for policy, reporting, management, and operational matters within the goal area.
- Strategic vision: Defines the results that need to be achieved in the goal area for the near-term as well as to accomplish longer-term results. Outlines the long-term plans and strategies to achieve those results. Balances long-range needs with short-term demands in establishing priorities and deadlines.
- Organizational leadership: Builds strong relationships within the goal team and with leaders in the influence and support areas. Is adept at pulling resources together to scale up and address needs in a nimble fashion. Works across the organization to ensure that the best talent is brought to bear in developing and implementing solutions and strategies. Expertly assembles and manages dispersed internal and external resources for results.
- Integration: Works across the team and organization to optimize integration of forest conservation interventions at policy and field levels.
- Creativity, innovation and learning: Develops new and creative solutions that will leverage WWF’s efforts toward the global forest goal. Scans the external environment, networks and research to challenge WWF and partners. Solves problems and makes things happen under complex circumstances. Ensures learnings and best practices are shared across places.
- Sets goals and metrics: Drives to achieve success, measures and communicates progress on an ongoing basis. Creates opportunities for recognition and development. Delivers results with maximum efficiency and consistent integrity.
- Communications and fundraising: Drives major fundraising efforts in conjunction with other WWF staff. Jointly accountable for annual fundraising goals and commitments.
