Primarily a summer camp, Kitaki also offers Outdoor Education, Year-Round Campouts and Family Programs, and facilities for Retreats.
Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA camp programs related to retreats, outdoor education and conferences.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directly carries out supervisory responsibilities to effectively manage personnel in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; auditing and appraising performance; approving and reporting payroll; conducting staff meetings; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives (see program-specific list below).
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with program participants and volunteers.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs. Implements continuous program improvement processes and establishes new program activities as needed to better serve community members, YMCA members and program participants.
- Communicates to all staff and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect youth from abuse. Responds seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and follows mandated reporting requirements related to abuse.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations, schools and vendors.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Assumes a lead role in assisting with and promoting the Annual Campaign.
- Promotes and coordinates special events.
- Assists with program registrations as needed.
- Receives and carries out instructions.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Performs off-season and resident summer work on-site.
- Performs special projects and other related duties as needed or assigned by management.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Develops and oversees adult and family programs.
- Manages user group experience to include recruiting groups, planning, contracting, executing, and follow up on all Rentals and Conferences.
- Manages Outdoor Education program to include recruiting groups, planning contracting, staffing and executing and follow up on all Outdoor Education programs.
- Assists with administrative duties to include providing support for office functions such as program registration, correspondence to participants, and answering internal and external questions
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience.
