 The Director Financial Accounting and Reporting is responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of the financial results of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with US General Accepted Accounting Principles. It includes the completion of the annual, quarterly and monthly financial reporting to the VP, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Chief Financial Officer, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders, both internal and external.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Completion of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for review by VP, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Chief Financial Officer, and the Board of Directors.
  • Completion of the consolidated annual audit, stand-alone Co-Pay annual audit, Co-Pay Agreed-upon-procedure compliance annual audits, and the 403(b) retirement plan annual audit.
  • Act as the conduit between Accounting, Campaign Leads, Field Leadership, and National Office departments in regards to all accounting activities and requirements.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on all US General Accepted Accounting Principles and provide financial analysis when needed.
  • Review and or prepare tax reporting and compliance schedules.
    • Tax reporting includes annual Forms 990, 5500, 926, state registrations, sales tax, and other reporting that may arise from the organization's tax structure
  • Maintenance and monitoring of internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures related to financial reporting.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and programs to promote the field and campaign fundraising initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
PA and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 + years of financial accounting experience
  • 3 + years of management experience
  • Public Accounting experience a plus
  • Not-for-profit experience a plus
  • Knowledge of current GAAP required accounting and financial statement disclosures, and IRS required reporting,
  • Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting theories and principles.
  • NetSuite and Adaptive, or similar financial system experience a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office Suite.
