Lead company growth and retention through studio development by partnering with branches and corporations for future association growth.

Under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer, the Director of Association Health & Wellness will create and drive strategy for health and wellness initiatives for the Association. As The Director of Association Health & Wellness, you will lead company growth and retention through new fitness studio development by partnering with existing branches and area corporations to build and maintain a pipeline for future association growth. This position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image, and core values of the YMCA of the Capital District is conveyed.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Creates, drives and develops strategy around wellness support systems so that the Y sustains a leadership role in advancing health and wellness.
  • Leads change and innovation efforts through planning, research, program development, and staff development.
  • Directs all aspects of innovation, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination for all wellness and personal training programs and services.
  • Schedules and develops trainings related to this specialty area; meeting the needs of front line staff and are high quality, cutting edge, and aligned with the strategic direction of the department.
  • Supports branch wellness professionals with providing: information, resources, and responds to inquiries on topics related to this specialty area.
  • Develops and coordinates new innovation and wellness initiatives.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field. Must possess a nationally recognized certification in Group Exercise and/or Personal Training and current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of five years’ experience implementing and managing high quality and large volume health and wellness programs.
  • Ability to stay abreast of trends and emerging strategic opportunities in the area of fitness, wellness, well-being, and health-related technology advancements.
  • Must be self-motivated, hands-on team leader with strong communications, networking and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
