The South Shore YMCA is now hiring an Associate Executive Director for its Early Learning Centers and Afterschool programs!

This position is responsible for assisting the VP of Youth Development with the administration and operation of Early Learning/Afterschool Programs to achieve the Association’s goals and objectives to ensure financial and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include Association leadership for the development/maintenance of high-quality Early Learning/Afterschool programs, Youth & Family programs to help drive Family Membership, while providing opportunities to shape values and encourage lifelong learning for children. This position will provide leadership for age-appropriate/DAP utilizing anti-bias and inclusive activities while guiding families and providing new opportunities for lasting personal and social change. The incumbent must embrace the Association’s matrix management system and demonstrate a collaborative philosophy. Also responsible for articulating the Y’s mission, vision, and goals to staff, families, board members, members, and community.

Areas of Responsibility: 

 PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

  • Assists with oversight of licensed (EEC) Early Learning Programs (Quincy, North Quincy, Hanover, Norwell) and Afterschool Programs (Quincy, Norwell and Scituate). Work with Directors re’ the management of all programs’ operations ensuring compliance in all related areas including EEC licensing procedures and regulations, NAEYC criteria, Healthy Eating Physical Activity (HEPA) standards. Provide reasonable accommodations to allow children with diverse abilities to participate in activities and to meet each child’s needs according to EEC and ADA. This position will provide leadership and needed coverage for Association-wide in the absence of the Vice President of Youth Development.

STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

  • Directly supervises all Directors and Assistant Directors while providing guidance and support to educators, students and volunteers in accordance with the organization's policies, EEC regulations, applicable laws, QRIS Standards and NAEYC criteria. Plans, assigns, and directs staff and volunteer work. Communicates staff concerns in an efficient and timely manner.Monitor and communicate with supervisor all staff related EEC, NAEYC, and SOUTH SHORE YMCA requirements.

MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

  • Builds relationships with and among families and members, responds to inquiries and solves problems in a timely and efficient manner. Supports and drives family membership at the SSYMCA. Creates a supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new families, and connects families to the YMCA’s cause.

BUDGET DEVELOPMENT- FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Works with VP of Youth Development and Directors to develop, plan and manage Early Learning and Afterschool departments budgets as approved in a fiscally responsible manner.

FACILITY MANAGEMENT

  • Works with supervisor /Early Learning, Afterschool & facilities management to ensure facilities and equipment for children are safe, clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive.​

VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT

  • Responsible for engaging and supervising volunteers. Responsible for developing Early Learning –Afterschool Cause Advisory Board w/ goals that align with SOUTH SHORE YMCA strategic plan.​

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT

  • Assists in SOUTH SHORE YMCA fundraising events and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community. Meet Annual Campaign budget goals as defined by Association. 
Educational Background: 
Completion or in process of attaining a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Education, or related field is preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • EEC Director qualifications.
  • Ability to obtain 7D Pupil Transport license within 60 days of hire
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with EEC regulations, QRIS Standards and NAEYC criteria.
  • The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with, staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators, members, community leaders and other agencies are critical to this position.
  • Effective teaching skills, the ability to implement methods to address and follow up with family/staff needs/concerns in a positive and professional way reflecting an attitude that values diversity.
  • Computer proficient with experience in Microsoft Office and Word.
