Product Solution Engineer, Unified Communications

Provides sound data, integration, security, and business architecture design throughout all stages within the product lifecycle for Microsoft (MS) teams, including a proof-of-concept or minimum viable product, as well as architecture design and technology evaluation artifacts.  Oversees the more technical parts of the product strategy and is able to form close working relationships with development, engineering, infrastructure, networking, and/or cloud teams.  Works with the product manager to build business-value based objectives for upcoming sprints.  Works with the developers, administrators, and support staff to analyze incident trends and underlying system problems to identify incremental improvement opportunities that support/drive key business value drivers.  Plays the role of peer coach, as well as peer reviewer, guiding developers and support team members to adopt new principles/guidelines that will ensure a more stable and secure environment.  Collaborates with product management to prioritize opportunities within the backlog pipeline. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Leads the implementation/migration to MS teams and integration with existing AV solutions (MS Surface Hub).
  • Develops innovative solutions, taking into consideration performance, scalability, and availability with realistic implementation schedules.
  • Reviews technical specifications and design and develops and enhances software programs and applications.
  • Serves as the technical liaison and subject-matter-expert in customer interactions.
  • Investigates new technologies and makes recommendations regarding appropriate usage.
  • Creates and reviews requirements and functional specification documents for clarity, completeness, and implementation challenges.  Contributes to technical specifications documents.
  • Mentors others on architecture and design skills and concepts.
  • Participates in test and production deployments.
  • Shares knowledge with colleagues to strengthen understanding of business needs and technology-based business solutions.
  • Works to streamline processes, with the goal of speeding delivery to the customer, while balancing risk management objectives.
  • Provides critical input to technical operations planning processes and development and ensures alignment with broader ITS strategic objectives.
Educational Background: 
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Engineering, or an equivalent field and 7+ years related experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft teams, Microsoft O365, Skype for Business, Exchange Online, SharePoint/SharePoint online, Active Directory, and Azure
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed, technical team organization.
  • Strong client service and project management skills.  In particular, must have the ability to communicate with both business and technical individuals effectively and explain technologies in a non-technical manner.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft team implementations and user adoption.
  • Ability to identify issues and coordinate resolutions.
