The Twin Rivers YMCA is seeking a full-time experienced Sports Director to join our mission-driven team.
The Sports Director, under the direction of the Senior Director of Membership Engagement, will manage all sports programs and the administrative operations of the Sports Department for the TWIN RIVERS YMCA. This position develops, plans and administers all new/existing programs, applies procedures and methods to achieve our strategic goals and membership/participant engagement. Ensures these programs are aligned with the Y’s cause and meet the needs of our members and the community.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.Establish new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Monitors daily gym operations to ensure all activities are being conducted safely and with regards to facility policies.
- Develop, administer, and control the sports department budget and take appropriate action to maintain the fiscal integrity of the department.
- Respond to all member, parent, and community inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Recruits volunteers for effective and efficient operation of YMCA programs.
- Secure and schedule athletic fields and facilities as necessary.
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Responds to all member and community inquires and complaints in timely manner.
- Complies program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in recreation management, sports management, physical education or equivalent experience required.
Skills/Experience:
- One to two years related experience required.
- Knowledge of DAXKO helpful but not required.
- Experience with program and volunteer development
- Experience with creating and managing a budget
- Previous hiring, supervision and development of staff
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $36,300.00 - $45,000.00
