Under the general direction of the Child Care Services Director and Camp Director, the Multi-site Coordinator works for the YMCA of Greater Hartford and is responsible for development, coordination, quality and supervision of School Age Child Care sites, School Age Enrichment programs, and Camp during the summer.Staff members must be qualified by training and experience to carry out their respective functions in the administration, operation and maintenance of the school-age child care program.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Oversee all SACC sites. Enforce compliance, supervision, and quality standards.
- Schedule activities and purchase supplies within budget guidelines.
- Supervise, observe, train, evaluate, and mentor Head Teachers, Assistants, Substitutes and Volunteers. Supervises 20-30 employees.
- Develop and implement School Age Enrichment programs for all sites (i.e. Project-Based Curriculum). Coordinate registration, scheduling and transportation.
- Display a positive attitude that is conducive to good public relations.
- Maintain positive relations with host personnel at all sites.
- Knowledge of Office of Early Childhood Regulations, YMCA of Greater Hartford procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines, and Branch regulations.
- Obtain and maintain the Connecticut State Licensing Standards for all sites.
- Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates all staff relative to responsibilities (i.e. Enrichment programs, SACC sites, Camp.)
- Schedule substitutes and floaters for SACC program and Camp to ensure that ratios are met.
- Conduct meetings, visitations, evaluations, parent contact, and day-to-day operations of the SACC sites assigned.
- Develop and implement family activities in conjunction with SACC program and Day Camp.
- Assist with the Branch Annual Support Campaign and the United Way by serving in a designated role.
- Conduct site visitations, evaluation, parent contact, and day-to-day operations of the SACC sites.
- Wear proper identification, appropriate secured footwear (no open-toed shoes or heels), and presentable clothing AT ALL TIMES.
- Expand job knowledge and skills by demonstrating a willingness to learn.
- Serves as a member of the total staff team. Supports total Association and Branch events as designated.
- Perform any other duties that pertain to SACC or Camp given out by their directors.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience:
- Be at least 18 years of age AND possess a Bachelor’s degree in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field AND 4 years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 years, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- OR Bachelor’s Degree with 18 credits in the above listed areas of concentration AND 4 years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 years, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Bring to this position maturity, responsibility, and a sincere interest in working with people.
- Have very strong interpersonal and organization skills.
- Have the ability to help supervise, train, mentor, and lead staff, Assistants and Volunteers.
- Possess a general knowledge and understanding of the YMCA, its goals, and its mission.
- Knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in directing daily activities.
- Maintain current medical and tuberculosis health form. (Expires every two years)
- Obtain New Staff Orientation within 30 days of hire.
- Obtain Child Care Orientation within 45 days of hire.
- Obtain Site Supervisor’s Orientation with in 60 days of hire.
- Obtain 15 hours of training within the first 6 months of hire (May be prorated with supervisor’s approval).
- Obtain a minimum of 30 hours of training every two years. (30 hour minimum requirement for each license period for the site, but may be prorated with supervisor’s approval)
- Incumbent will be required to be fingerprinted and have background checks conducted by the YMCA and the state.
- Maintain updated certifications of the job (CPR and First Aid (AED) within 30 days of hire, Medication Administration Training, Supervision Trainings, Food and Safety Trainings, and any other as directed by your supervisor.)
- Must have reliable transportation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
- Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
- Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. climbing, aggressive behavior).
- Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations (i.e. crying upset child, upset parent, or upset staff).
- Ability to be flexible and willing to adjust to change.
- Ability to move around the room to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.
- Ability to lift young children and objects (food baskets and supplies) up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to develop and foster cooperative relationships.
- Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather)
- Ability to use hands, fingers, and arms as well as be able to speak and hear.
- Ability to move from program site to branch or site to site, and is required to enter all YMCA environments including, program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area.
- Should have good physical and mental health, and have the energy and emotional stability necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of their positions.
