Develop strategic business partnerships with TNC hiring managers at the global, regional, functional, departmental and/or Operating Unit levels.  Ensure effective recruitment of senior staff in salary Grades 9 and above, with a focus on increasing the diversity of the Conservancy’s workforce.  Lead internal “kick-off” calls with hiring managers.  Source passive talent, screen, evaluate selected applicants, and maintain a pipeline of qualified, diverse candidates. Leverage experience in building talent pools, identifying potential candidates, and using cost-effective sourcing techniques to attract qualified applicants.  Employ sourcing and data mining methods, including Boolean searches, a variety of search engines, internal sourcing, and external job board searches. There are two openings available for this position and the preferred location is Arlington, VA.  

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Senior Recruiter acts as an internal search consultant who manages full-cycle recruitments as assigned in salary grades 9 and above and works to increase the diversity of candidates interviewed and selected for open positions.  Essential functions include delivering relevant counsel regarding senior-level recruitments and sourcing techniques; overseeing job advertising, candidate and referral sourcing, making cold calls, tracking applicants in PeopleSoft, coaching hiring managers on compensation and offers, conducting initial phone interview screens and reference checks.  This position is a member of the Executive Recruiting team and works collaboratively to develop strategies and networks in order to increase TNC’s overall diversity.  Works with others to train & coach hiring managers in behavioral-based interviewing and the legal requirements of recruiting and hiring.  The position partners with senior HR leaders on hiring strategy & techniques, will be involved with some retention efforts, and will assist with other staffing strategies as assigned.  S/he may supervise other recruiting staff and is supervised by an Executive Recruiter.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Conduct approximately 10 full-cycle recruitments per year for targeted vacancies across the globe, which involves using cutting-edge sourcing strategies and techniques, ad placements, identification, screening, interviewing, reference checking, rejecting, hiring and candidate follow-up. Manage applicant tracking & responses in PeopleSoft. Work towards delivering a slate of candidates within an average of 45 days.
  • Develop competency-based behavioral screening and interview questions, assist hiring managers in offering appropriate compensation packages and provide strategies for ensuring diverse applicant pools.  Assist hiring managers in defining the search image. This may require occasional on-site travel to conduct informational interviews with local staff to better formalize the search image. 15% travel is estimated. 
  • Training/Coaching/Mentoring:  Assist HR Business Partners and generalists in building the interviewing skills and sourcing techniques of hiring managers and field operations staff via training and 1:1 mentoring. 
  • Maintain organized applicant lists for those who should be considered for future positions. 
  • Provide analysis and recommendations for the most effective recruitment techniques regarding difficult-to-fill positions.  Track and report quarterly metrics.
  • Act as project lead with the Executive Recruiting Team to design and sell an Employee Referral Program.
  • Consult and assist on recruitments in other assigned difficult-to-fill searches as necessary.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree and six years full-cycle recruiting & selection experience, including international recruitments, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Solid understanding of U.S. employment laws governing recruiting, interviewing & hiring.
  • Strong client service orientation and ability to produce results in a high performing environment.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, relationship building/influencing skills that enable buy-in at all levels.  Creative, positive, proactive and able to sell the organization to candidates, as well as initiate innovative solutions and strategies.  Skilled in coaching, facilitation, presentation and communication (verbal and written).  Collaborative, teamwork-oriented and interactive.
  • Organizational skills with ability to prioritize and maintain flexibility while multi-tasking. 
  • Experience managing the administration, process, progress and maintenance of the human resource recruiting function.
  • Experience working with and coaching senior hiring managers to develop and implement HR recruiting strategies and initiatives.
  • Experience working with integrated Human Resources Management Systems (i.e. PeopleSoft or similar).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience using PeopleSoft e-Recruiting module.
  • Proficient in word processing, database management and spreadsheet software, with ability to construct and produce reports, data input, manipulation and analysis. 
  • Experienced in full life-cycle recruiting and cost-effective sourcing techniques, including ability to use and instruct others in competency modeling and behavioral interviewing techniques.  Proficiency with various Internet search techniques, familiarity working with outside recruitment vendors and applicant tracking systems.
  • PHR, AIRS and Interview Architect certifications preferred.
  • Proven success as a trainer and coach.
  • Ability to diversify interview slates.
  • Comfort around senior management and ability to coach in hiring best practices.
  • Project management skills and experience in working with recruiting vendors and RFPs.
  • Outstanding interpersonal & relationship building skills and strong client service orientation.          
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with all levels of individuals. 
  • Negotiation and influencing skills.    
  • Experience in working for an executive search firm is desirable.                             
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of relevant conservation issues. 
  • Excellent presentation skills and training experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven and highly visible environment.
