The YMCA of Greater Houston is currently seeking an experienced Data Impact Specialist so serve the Out of School Time team.

Develop, design, implement and coordinate the measurement of outcomes and evaluation of all YMCA programs relating to youth development. Ensures YMCA’s youth development programs’ outcomes are measured, tracked and reported according to agency planning and grant requirements. Provides information, training and consultation to Fund Development, and Program Directors related to evaluation projects, data collection and current research in the field of youth development. Collaborates with Director of Business Intelligence to clearly measure and communicate mission impact.

Comfortable with ambiguity and takes initiative to offer a resolution plan; understands qualitative and quantitative data and can translate that data into impact stories for marketing and fundraising purposes. The Impact Specialist must become knowledgeable of the organization, understanding the programs and services provided as well as the changes over time. The Impact Specialist provides scheduled program reports as well as ad hoc reporting for grant.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Monitors and evaluates the quality of agency data and outcomes and ensures systems are in place to track data and report program goals outcomes
  • Oversee and monitor data collection process for all related grant programs, including 21st Century Community Learning Center for reporting and evaluation purposes.
  • Designs and develops appropriate tools and instruments with which to measure program outcomes and ultimately program impact
  • Works in collaboration with Y leadership to determine what data are necessary to measure outcomes critical to the organization and how the data should be reviewed, analyzed and acted upon on a regular basis
  • Gives direction to program leads to ensure the measurement of Y program outcomes including goals, outputs, outcomes and impact.
  • Develops quality assurance plan and monitors data integrity to ensure data is recorded correctly and timely by Y program staff
  • Trains staff on process and data systems and initiates meetings as necessary to ensure successful use of data systems throughout the organization
  • Designs reports and queries to effectively track outcomes and facilitates meeting with Y program staff to review data and monitor quality
  • Creates evidenced-based impact statements for YMCA programs
  • Develop infographics to support YMCA external communications based on program impact.
  • Works in cooperation with YMCA of the USA to ensure local efforts are aligned with national efforts to measure and report impact.
  • Perform other duties as designed.
Educational Background: 
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with demonstrated interested in the welfare of children; bachelor’s degree in related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years’ experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting data.
  • Strong writing skills; ability to interpret data and translate it into impact stories.
  • Strong communication/collaboration skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in Excel, SPSS and related data reporting systems.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of youth development trends and research.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

TRAVEL

  • Travel is primarily local between assigned centers during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $59,000.00 - $66,000.00
