Develops a continuous stream of engaging content, including PowerPoints, presentations, icons, videos, graphics, infographics, and data visualization that advances AARP Foundation’s mission and objectives. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Partners with internal teams to convey the impact and results of work through compelling graphics, infographics, data visualization, and presentations, with strong and consistent brand identity.
  • Produces new ideas, concepts, and ways to tell the Foundation story through print, presentations, marketing collateral, promotional materials, and interactive media.
  • Understands and designs for multiple audiences (including donors, program beneficiaries, and volunteers) and incorporates audience insights into creative concepts.
  • Designs to increase engagement across multiple and varied communications channels (e.g., print, multimedia, social media, etc.).
  • Prepares and creates high-quality work by gathering information and materials through the use of graphic design software.
  • Manages projects by prioritizing, delivering, and fulfilling creative deliverables.
  • Amends final designs to client comments to deliver projects that are custom to their needs.
  • Assists the Communications and Marketing team on special projects and assignments, promoting integration across the AARP enterprise.
  • Develops communications and visual tools that enable programs to share their targeted messages.
  • Educates staff on how to create visually appealing presentations and materials.
  • Tracks, collates, and maintains an inventory of all marketing materials, including photos, video, and artwork. 
  • Manages printing and fulfillment of marketing materials.
  • Works closely with external agencies on positioning activities to ensure consistent branding.
Educational Background: 
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Graphics Design or a related degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in graphic design or as a graphic artist; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.  A portfolio that illustrates digital graphic design work and writing samples will be required.
  • Creative and innovative thinker, with strong consultation, project management, and writing skills.
  • Strong experience in a matrix-management environment and ability to manage and direct individuals and teams without direct management responsibilities to such individuals and teams.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills, with the ability to communicate with the proper level of detail at the appropriate management level and audience.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite design programs, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Tableau, and PowerPoint.
  • Graphic design skills to create artwork, display data graphically, and write copy to accompany. 
  • Strong proficiency in Mac and PC platforms for file manipulation (Microsoft Office Suite) and Adobe Creative Suites programs:  Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Photography and video creation/editing experience.
  • Deadline oriented and keen ability to multi-task, be highly organized, and able to work independently.
  • Knowledge of the print production process and appropriate file preparation.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, including proven ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously with multiple audiences.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must be able to learn and retain production requirements and techniques.
  • Meets immediate and changing deadlines.
  • Meets the highest standards of work.  Consistently provides exceptional design and creative support.
  • High energy and a strong sense of accountability.
  • In-depth current knowledge of standards and trends in typography, illustration, photography, color theory, brand development, and identity.
