WWF Partnership Manager

• The partnership with the Asian Development Bank is one of WWF’s flagship Public Sector Partnerships. Since the conclusion of the Memorandum of Understanding in 2001, WWF has directly or indirectly contributed more than $35B in investments in the zone of operation of the ADB. The WWF - ADB partnership supports the Network’s dialogues at the corporate level, for ADB country partnership strategies and programmes, and in priority places in Asia-Pacific where there is common interest
• ADB policy definition and cooperation (such as the ADB Corporate Strategy, development finance priorities, environment, natural resources, climate change, social and environmental safeguards, engagement of Civil Society);
• Supporting WWF practice teams at engaging and influencing ADB’s strategies and departments to contribute to WWF’s practice and goal objectives
• Steer the identification and financing of joint actions (definition of cooperative ventures, negotiation of financing  priorities and individual proposals, engaging ADB on financing priorities which will leverage conservation priorities; exploring and defining innovative financing mechanisms);
• Supporting WWF teams at country level in ADB Member Countries in engaging and influencing Country Partnership Strategies, and securing and delivering ADB financial support in the areas of technical assistance, capacity building, and innovative financing mechanisms;
• The development and dissemination of knowledge products demonstrating best practice, tools and state of the art learning in mainstreaming environmental considerations in programmes and policies.
• Scope. The partnership focuses on ADB’s policies, strategies and programs that help mitigate degradation of the environment and adapt and mitigate climate change in Asia-Pacific and therefore WWF is also involved in other sectors ADB invests in and have an impact on the environment such as transport, energy, water and the urban sector.
• The Partnership Manager is the central focal point in a team responsible for facilitation and coordination of the WWF Network’s partnership with the Asian Development Bank. The Partnership Manager works towards contributing to network goals and drivers, namely:
• Finance as a driver for delivering impacts and targets by way of engagement in policy processes
• Income to support WWF targets by way of technical assistance and co-financing to GEF funded grants
• Leverage  and resource mobilization by contributing to financing flows to governments such as involvement in the development of the ADB Country Partnership Strategies

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Mobilize, convene and coordinate the WWF Network’s engagement with ADB by defining and implementing an Organizational Partnership strategy, including the related outcomes, work plan and budget.
• Convene regular (virtual) meetings with WWF’s ADB Enabling Team.
• Provide strategy papers and inputs to the ADB Enabling Team for consideration/decision.
• Prepare, organize and follow up on Annual ADB-WWF Consultation.
• Maintain and coordinate a high-level partnership dialogue between WWF and ADB.
• Hold regular discussions with key ADB staff including Directors-General/Directors of the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department (SDCC), Regional and Operational Programmes; Vice-Presidents; Executive Directors.
• Plan, organize and coordinate high level visits.
•  Act as the central focal point in supporting, facilitating and monitoring relations with the ADB at home office (Manila) level, while also providing guidance and coaching to decentralized engagement between WWF offices and ADB resident missions in the region. Synthesize and communicate learning on engagements with the ADB with Network stakeholders.
• Train and support programmes and implementing offices in their understanding and engagement of the ADB: its role, functions and constituencies, and the expectations and underpinnings of the WWF-ADB Partnership.
• Track and alert programmes of ADB’s emerging priorities and programmes especially in Asia-Pacific sub-regions of interest
• Share experiences, best practices and lessons on working with ADB via case studies, and other training materials.
• Contribute to and advise on ADB’s plans through policy and technical dialogues with WWF staff, and / or exposure visits of ADB professionals to WWF priority places
• Participate in the review and updating of the ADB guidelines/ policies on environmental impact assessment as well as technical inputs to ADB’s guidelines on safeguards
• Contribute to processes relating to leveraging and resource mobilization e.g. engagement in the development of Country Partnership Strategies
• Extend technical inputs to developing national investments on adaptation
• Work closely with other PSP Focal Points to develop a coordinated approach, knowledge and experience sharing, and aligned work plans for WWF’s engagement with these institutions, with particular attention to multilateral and regional institutions
