This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development,healthy living and social responsibility. This person is responsible for the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation of the Wellness Center, Personal Training program, and related activities and retention of membership base.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Implements membership strategies that support existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including listen first) in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed in areas of fitness, personal training and small group class staff.
- Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Participates in the annual planning of the budget; manages and implements the approved budget for wellness and takes appropriate action to correct variances. Organizes wellness events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote healthy living.
- Leads assigned aspects of the fundraising campaign.
- Provides leadership to wellness events and provides leadership to the race timing staff.
- Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
- Promotes coaching connections with new members and other wellness programs with existing members in efforts to sustain retention. Coordinates program registration with marketing efforts to maximize enrollment.
- Responsible for the wellness center including research, maintenance and new purchases to ensure state of the art wellness center.
- Responsible for execution of the personal training budget, programs and events.
- Responsible for managing all small group fitness based programs.
- Works with other program directors such as afterschool to create wellness based programs for school age kids.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Must possess a nationally recognized personal trainer certification.
- Previous supervisory experience in exercise science, physical education or related field.
- Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $32,000.00 - $42,000.00
