We are seeking a proven, self-motivated, cause-driven professional to be responsible for all aspects of design, implementation, deliverance, and reporting of the Parent & Child Early Learning Readiness Program with the goals of:

1) Providing young children with intentional, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that help prepare them for the next stage of development,

2) Providing caregivers with information, resources, support & connections to promote optimal development of their children through structured adult/child interaction; increasing caregivers’ understanding of the critical role they play in the child’s development and kindergarten readiness, and

3) Strengthening families; nurturing the bond between caregiver and child; building connections, friendships and a circle of mutual support among people who care for children. The director will serve as the community advocate and face of the program, providing oversight to each session. They will hire, train and manage associates, manage the budget and grant funds for the program, interact with parents and caretakers, market the program and collect and report all program outcomes for grantor and all stakeholders. They will also serve the center Stay & Play program as an extension of the Early Learning Readiness program through curriculum development & implementation, quality control, and associate training. This position will report to the Family Center Executive Director.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Member Services and Engagement

  • Build relationships with parents daily, responding to emails, calls, concerns and follow up with NPS comments
  • Build a team with associates through training, development and positive culture, empowering them to provide the best experience for children and parents
  • Assist families with enrollment in the program and meeting requirements of program participation
  • Track and assess participation in the program to ensure highest level of engagement of participants and parents
  • Manage and coach associates directly to ensure staff are providing the highest quality program with the best customer service
  • Deliver the best quality program possible by evaluating the program and it’s curriculum as it unfolds and improving upon it
  • Recruit children and parents to be part of the program

Curriculum Development

  • Plans curriculum activities for various groups of children in accordance to both age and developmentally appropriate practices as outlined by funding agencies and the Tampa YMCA mission.
  • Train other associates on program and creates curriculum as needed

Operations

  • Provide curriculum, quality oversight, and training to the center Stay & Play program
  • Regular communication to the facility leadership team to provide status updates and specify any needs that arise
  • Preparing parent communications and setting program expectations at the start/throughout each session
  • Create program rosters and enrollment information to the part time staff
  • Input and track data and create progress reports for each participant in the program including attendance in program and other key metrics
  • Grant invoicing and documentation of deliverables and outcomes
  • Regular communication with membership and Stay & Play associates to assist with promotion, enrollment, documents and procedures
  • Create reports as necessary for director and stakeholders
  • Monitor email, properly correspond and follow up with all parties necessary
  • Ensure staff to children ratios, arrange substitute staff or personally work in ratio when necessary

Safety and Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to all YMCA policies and procedures regarding the safety, health and welfare of members, program participants, guests and staff
  • Conduct daily risk management and safety audits in the program space to ensure the safety of all staff and participants
  • Track and store all records following YMCA policies
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Early Learning or Youth Development related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3-5 years experience working with and managing groups of children in a learning environment
  • 3-5 years staff supervision experience
  • Four or more years of experience developing early learning curriculum and training preferred
  • Basic computer skills, use of Excel and ability to learn reporting and membership systems
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner with associates, children & their caretakers
  • Grant administration experience preferred
  • Bilingual preferred

Required Certifications

  • Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen Administration.
  • Must obtain Activenet Training within 30 days of employment.
