The Salem Family YMCA is looking for a self-motivated and mission driven candidate to join our full-time Aquatics Staff.

This candidate must possess an outgoing personality and a positive attitude as well as verbal and written communication skills. The primary responsibility of the Aquatics Coordinator is to, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, assist in the organization, planning, and management of all aquatic programs, supervise part time aqua fitness instructors and swim instructors, and ensure the Salem Family YMCA aquatics environment provides a safe and positive member experience for all.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directly supervise aqua fitness instructors and all swim lesson instructors.
  • Schedule and coordinate part-time staff schedules, hold appropriate in-services and trainings,ensure all staff stays current in appropriate certifications.
  • Assist with Y SPLASH implementation at local elementary schools and at the YMCA
  • Actively instruct the SAW classes
  • Assist with monthly pool scheduling.
  • Assist with developing and monitoring the aquatic budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Assist in developing new programs within the community per the association’s strategic plans.
  • Performs lifeguard duties, swim lessons, water fitness and arthritis classes as needed.
Educational Background: 
Strong candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or university.
Skills/Experience: 
  • The individual must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in pool management with supervision & training abilities and expertise in creating & implementing aquatic programming.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.

The individual must also hold the following valid certifications:

  • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
  • Red Cross /YMCA Lifeguard

The following certifications are preferred:

  • American Red Cross and/or YMCA Lifeguarding Instructor
  • YMCA Parent/Child, Preschool, and Youth and Adult swim lesson instructor
