This position is responsible for the overall supervision of the Early Childhood Learning Center year-round programming including all assigned staff and children enrolled as well as transportation coordination.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist in managing day to day operations of the center including physical layout and daily policies and procedures.
- Ensure the development and implementation of the center’s child development and activities program for children below six years of age.
- Ensure the appropriateness of program activities according to both the age and developmental level of each child.
- Develop and deliver curriculum founded on the Center's philosophies whilst following childcare regulations and National Quality Standards.
- Create positive learning environments including resources based on child-directed learning.
- Develop strategies to guide positive children's behavior.
- Build good, open communication with children, families and staff.
- Observe and record children's growth, development and behavior.
- Ensure the learning environment is clean, hygienic and safe
- Help develop teaching goals for the center and its teachers
- Meet the needs of the children socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically.
- Participate in special events, and committees for planning and marketing.
- Participates in overall maintenance, upkeep, and facility improvement.
- Undertake administrative tasks as required.
- Attend all staff meetings, training sessions and special events as required.
- Provide safe, timely transportation to and from the YMCA including field trips, school pick-ups, summer camp swim programs, and all other driving dictated by the program areas.
- Arrange bus repairs and paperwork required by the governing bodies.
- Ensure attendance sheets are tracked and filed appropriately, including bus rosters.
- Conduct pre and post trip bus check and be responsible for the safety and security of the bus at completion of each run, inside and out, and report mechanical difficulties immediately.
- Arrange quarterly inspections, maintenance, repairs, and other needs for vehicles.
- Perform other job duties as requested and necessary.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Phycology, Health care, Nursing or any other field related to Child Growth Development and 6 credits in 2 years’ experience teaching small children.
Skills/Experience:
- Experience working in a childcare setting.
- Fantastic organizational and teamwork skills.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- A good level of computer literacy – comfortable using Microsoft office tools (Word, Publisher, excel etc.).
- A good understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework.
- Required to work at the center for at least 75 percent of the Center’s daily operating hours or at least 6 hours a day, whichever is less,
- Should be able to plan, discuss and observe the implementation of program activities by staff members for all groups of children.
- Clean driving record and willingness to submit to random drug screenings, physical examinations, and any other requirements determined by the State of NJ.
- NJ class B commercial driver’s license with passenger and school bus endorsement within 3 months of hire date. Must show enrollment to obtain license upon hire
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $27,000.00 - $35,000.00
