Under the supervision of Branch Director and in collaboration with the Member Service and Engagement Director the Healthy Living Director fulfills the vision for member engagement and quality programming in the areas of Wellness, Group Exercise, Personal Training and Evidence Based Impact Programs. This position is responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Responsible for onboarding and developing them for success.
- Has full responsibility for maintaining delivery of high-quality wellness programs through staff.
- Ensures that all staff are remaining current with certifications necessary for the positions they hold
- Responsible for all Healthy Living Department administrative duties including but not limited to payroll and staff/program scheduling for all areas of supervision.
- Responsible for budget development and implementation.
- Regularly evaluates wellness and group exercise programs to provide high-level service to our members.
- Ensures member engagement by connecting members to personalized wellness experiences.
- Implement membership strategies that promote recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Identify and resolve problem areas to ensure member satisfaction.
- Monitor and evaluate program statistics for their effectiveness and program participation.
- Ability to work with New Hanover Regional Medical center’s PT services hosted at the branch and foster healthy communication for partnership.
- Designing and implementing new health and wellness programs tailored to the needs of community members
- Employs strategies to increase member engagement by staff
- Responsible for all myZone reporting and implementation of myZone challenges as well as troubleshooting and maintaining all components within the facility.
- Responsible for implementation of Group X pro-software for schedules and communication
- Purchasing equipment, parts and supplies as required.
- Plans and coordinates maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment as required.
- Teaches group water and land exercise classes as needed.
- Functions as a Wellness Coach on the wellness floor as needed.
- Leads and assists with monthly association initiatives and membership appreciation events.
- Serves as part of the Director Team, which includes working evenings and weekends as needed.
- Provides leadership for the Annual Campaign by leading staff and volunteer teams to meet set goals.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in exercise science or related field preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Must have experience in recruiting, training and motivating people and must understand the importance of retention.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills must have been obtained and demonstrated through past job experiences.
- Possess the appropriate certifications and training in order to teach and direct a variety of wellness programs.
- Strong understanding of technology and implementation with software systems such as, Group X pro, Y-zone, Scheduling system, TV configuration etc..
- Ability to adapt to change quickly, work under stressful conditions on a regular basis, and take responsibility for the health and safety of others.
- Be experienced and passionate about member engagement and developing member wellness goals.
- Professional, courteous and friendly, with a high level of initiative and an ability to be a self-starter.
- Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, and able to respond appropriately in a dynamic, fluid environment.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Must have and maintain current certifications in CPR and First Aid.
- Experience with MOSSA or Les Mills and an ability to teach a variety of group exercise formats.
- Must possess the skills to operate standard office and computer equipment. Must possess effective communication, organizational and budgeting skills. Must be familiar with the basis operations of cardiovascular resistance equipment
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $34,000.00 - $44,000.00
