The Y is looking to fill a newly created position, MEL (Member Experience Leader). You may be wondering what this position entails? It’s a leadership customer service position focused on servicing our customers which we call our members. This is an ideal position for someone with experience in the hospitality industry.

This position is the liaison between the YMCA and our members. The incumbent’s ultimate responsibility is to ensure that our members and guest have the utmost pleasant experience during their Y visit.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Incumbent will hire, train and manage front line staff, ensuring proper implementation of front desk sop’s (standard operating procedures). For example, reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to team members, while setting a positive example of expectations.
  • Must be an eager problem solver who listens for member cues and actively resolves problems with grace and integrity.
  • Demonstrated talents in communicating and interacting with members/customers, both internal and external. Proven experience in going the extra mile to solve complex member inquiries.
  • Experience performing in a goal-driven customer focused environment preferred.
  • Coordinates with department directors and others as required.
  • Assist with coordination of membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
  • Lead and participates in staff meetings and or related meetings.
  • Manage the fielding and sending of important written business correspondences
Educational Background: 
High School Diploma or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • Some college or Associates degree, preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience in customer service, preferred
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • This is a full-time position. Candidates should be flexible to work any 8 hour shift between opening and closing. Including some holidays, nights and weekends.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00
