The YMCA of Columbia SC is seeking an experienced Director with a passion for mission and cause to lead our Jeep Rogers Family YMCA.
The Jeep Rogers Branch Executive Director is a key role at the YMCA of Columbia, overseeing the association’s largest branch. Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, this person is responsible for all branch decision-making and operations including membership, program services, financial development, community engagement, business operations, facility management, and employee development, all in accordance with the association’s policies.
Constructed in 2007 in Northeast Columbia’s desirable Lake Carolina “Live, Work, Play” community, the Jeep Branch is a 55,000 square foot facility with state of the wellness equipment, cycling and group exercise studios, functional training space, 25-meter indoor pool, gymnasium with indoor track, tennis courts, sports fields, and multiple youth programming spaces, including both indoor and outdoor playgrounds. The branch has 3400 membership units, a $3.3M operating budget, and an $90K annual campaign.
The YMCA of Columbia includes six facility branches, serving Richland, Kershaw, Lexington, Calhoun, and Orangeburg counties in South Carolina.

- Coordinates the development of the branch board and committees. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
- Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
- Represents and promotes the Y in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
- Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff.
- Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meet or exceeds budget targets.
- Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
- Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
- Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.
- Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
- Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a Y or other nonprofit agency.
- Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
- Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certifications.
Salary: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00
