The YMCA of Greater Houston is currently seeking an experience Membership Sales Director for the Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA.

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking an ambitious, cause-driven and innovative Membership Sales Director to develop a staff team serving the Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA. This 115,000 square foot state of the art facility serving Downtown Houston has an operational budget of $7 million dollars and provides programs and services to 8,000 facility membership units.The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, strategic thinker and have a passion for the mission of the YMCA.

Directs all aspects of membership sales for the center including recruitment of new members, enrolling new members and renewals and supervision of assigned staff. Develops, plans and implements new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Implements membership strategies that promote recruitment of new members and renewal of existing members. Organizes assigned staff to support membership enrollment goals.
  • Works with Membership Sales Associates to ensure center meets or exceeds membership and corporate membership sales goals via role-playing, shadow branch tours and ongoing assessments.
  • Recruits prospective new members and encourages previous members to rejoin by analyzing utilization reports, networking, outbound calling, and referrals.
  • Work closely with Association and Center marketing teams to initiate, develop and grow relationship with prospects and new members.
  • Transitions new members from sales to service to ensure they are properly introduced and integrated into appropriate Y programs.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of staff functions to determine required core competencies and skills; and designs and implements training as needed. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Promotes membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members utilizing logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration.
  • Embrace, support and role model concepts of Listen First, Building Relationships Member Engagement and Healthy Lifestyles to all members.
  • Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
  • Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
  • Leads the effort in the expansion of the Corporate partnership program through the identification of prospective companies and corporate member engagement.
  • Ensures corporate wellness team delivers consistent excellence In delivering corporate offerings to companies
  • Coordinates with the business office and Member Services Director as necessary on financial transactions as well as quality control issues.
  • Leads assigned aspects of the Annual Support Campaign.
  • Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Previous supervisory experience in new member sales preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $52,000.00 - $58,000.00
