Oversees the day-to-day operation of the Wellness Center, Personal Training, Wellness Programming, and LiveSTRONG at the YMCA program. 

Oversees the day-to-day operation of the Wellness Center, Personal Training, Wellness Programming, and LiveSTRONG at the YMCA program. The Director must be energetic and demonstrate the YMCA character traits of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility while being able to develop community relationships with members, other organizations and staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages daily operations of the Wellness Center including scheduling, coverage, and program administration.
  • Maintains equipment and facilities including purchasing equipment, parts and supplies as required.Coordinates and schedules equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Administers the Personal Training Program and aids in personal training for members.Schedules programs within Daxko operations for registration.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Oversees the LiveSTRONG at the YMCA program and additional chronic disease initiatives.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Manages the full-time Aquatics Director of the YMCA and supports/manages aquatics staff in the aquatics director’s absence.
  • Supports the group fitness staff in Group Fitness Director’s absence.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance.Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
  • Works collaboratively with marketing staff in order to market and distribute program information.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events, including coordinating all volunteers for events.
  • Assists with Program Committee meetings of the Board of Directors
  • Attends all professional staff meetings, keeps informed of all activities at the YMCA.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field required, MS preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two to Five years related experience preferred.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Wellness principles. Has a proven track record in starting and executing innovative wellness programming.
  • Has the desire to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of Y members and theRome community.
  • Ability to effectively lead, communicate with, and motivate staff and members. Ability topersonal train, develop exercise programs using ACSM guidelines, teach small group training classes, and has experience in the fitness/wellness including; personal training, and member/staff relations.
  • · Current, accredited certifications like ACSM, NASM, or NSCA required, Additionalcertification in a specialty preferred ie. ACSM Exercise is Medicine Initiative, C.P.R./A.E.D., and first aid certification required
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $48,000.00
