Audubon on Campus is a bold new initiative to develop Audubon chapters on college and university campuses and engage student ambassadors in leadership and career development opportunities in conservation and advocacy. The Program Manager, Audubon on Campus will lead strategic outreach, development, implementation, and evaluation for Audubon on Campus, growing it into a powerhouse program that connects a new generation to Audubon’s mission across hundreds of campuses. The Program Manager is experienced with college and university student engagement and program development and execution, including moves management or sales funnel management.
Reporting to the Director, Network Development and Strategy, the Program Manager will manage outreach staff; continue program design and development; identify and manage opportunities for training, grants, and scholarships; represent Audubon with faculty and administrators; and connect students and faculty with local Audubon staff and traditional chapters.
- Lead the growth of Audubon on Campus to 150 campuses in first year, and set growth targets and plans for subsequent years, with a focus on meaningful student engagement in advocacy and conservation.
- Build partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities and other Minority-Serving Institutions, religious campus, and student organizations across the political spectrum.
- Continue developing the Audubon on Campus program mechanics, including chapter models, student ambassadors, an alumni program, annual reports, and grant funding.
- Lead student outreach staff to success in their goals and careers.
- Act as liaison with Technology and Marketing teams for data management and communications strategies for the Audubon on Campus program. Ensure strategic programmatic decision-making and implementation in regards to data management, including tracking and communicating with campus organizations, student leaders, and student members.
- Represent Audubon within the campus chapter network through speaking engagements, webinars, and other training, visibility, and listening opportunities focused on building greater collaboration and effectiveness.
- Lead peer-to-peer learning and networking programs for Audubon campus chapters.
- Develop and implement standards for Audubon campus chapter operations in conjunction with field leadership and relevant national departments, including business practices, technical tools, and leadership development.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with external associations and organizations that benefit Audubon’s campus chapter network.
- In partnership with Development and Network team leadership, raise funds to support Audubon’s campus chapter network through prospect identification, relationship building, proposal development, and evaluation.
- Strong track record of accomplishment in sales, fundraising, or field organizing, demonstrating a drive to identify and develop prospects, track progress, overcome obstacles, and close deal.
- 5 + years’ relevant professional experience in higher education, organizing, sales, career development, or nonprofit program development and implementation.
- Proven experience in networking, engaging, and successfully cultivating diverse partners, including peer-to-peer partnerships and successful engagement within an association.
- Experience working with Historically Black Colleges and Universities and other Minority-Serving Institutions required.
- Proficiency in Spanish a plus.
- Fundraising and grant design and management experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams and with leadership across a variety of groups.
- Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proven experience in CRM systems and digital marketing or organizing (EveryAction, SalesForce a plus).
- Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Successful supervisory experience with staff, contractors, and volunteers strongly preferred.
- Experience working in an advocacy organization strongly preferred, and experience with environmental, climate change, or conservation preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and web-based budgeting and database systems required; knowledge of Salesforce a plus.
- Willingness to travel out of state and work occasional nights and weekends as the job demands.
