The Associate Executive Director, Program Development is accountable for the overall administration and daily operation of the Program Department, ensuring the highest level of program quality and service to our members and participants. The Associate Executive Director will represent the Legacy YMCA in a positive and professional manner, displaying and encouraging the YMCA character traits of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and grow new and existing programs in the area of Aquatics, Child Care, Camp, Sports, and Wellness.
  • Lead program areas in accordance with policies, procedures and standards established by the Legacy YMCA.
  • Direct supervision of full and part-time staff including director, coordinators and support staff.
  • Manage the total operating budget of assigned areas of responsibility, meeting agreed-upon annual performance plan, while creating a culture of revenue generation, growth and financial stewardship.
  • Build a dynamic staff team, including professional development, coaching, evaluation and recognition.
  • Ensure YMCA members, program participant and parents receive the highest quality of programs and are able to communicate concerns and resolutions are implemented.
  • Responsible for the development of the program department's annual performance plan.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships within the community.
  • Manage all program areas to promote a clean and welcoming atmosphere while working closely with the Property Manager to ensure proper maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Promote and market all programs while working closely with the Y's public relations person.
  • Serve as a member of the Legacy YMCA's senior leadership team and support the strategic vision of the organization.
  • Assist the CEO in strategic development and implementation of programs and services to meet community needs.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A proven record of successful leadership in the areas of staff management and development.
  • Proven record of success in program development and growth.
  • Ability work with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds on occasion, using proper lifting technique.
  • Completion of Multi-Team Leader certification within 2 years of hire.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00
