The Aquatics Director is responsible for providing a safe and engaging aquatic program. The Aquatics Director is responsible for providing a safe and engaging aquatic program. This position is responsible for the management of the lifeguards, swim instructors and the overall administration of the association’s aquatics program. - Facilitate and guide the teaching of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in our YMCA.
- Hire, train, schedule and supervise part-time swim instructors, lifeguards, swim team coaches and volunteers.
- Be available to fill any slot in the swim instructor and lifeguard schedule that may be open by absence, resignation or termination.
- Complete all payroll/time sheet records for swim instructors and lifeguards.
- Organize class rosters and coordinate orientations and related issues.
- Maintain attendance records and prepare/schedule all performance evaluations.
- Perform quality checks of instruction.
- Perform regularly scheduled audits of all lifeguards.
- Conduct and document safety drills, audits and in-service trainings.
- Coordinate pool rentals.
- Supervise swim team coaches and assist with the operations of the swim team.
- Under the guidance of the Operations and Property Director, create and oversee the annual operating budget for the Aquatics Department.
- Know, initiate and supervise emergency procedures.
- Assist in YMCA fundraising and special events
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
- Must have complete knowledge of the association’s program policies and emergency procedures.
- Must possess current Lifeguard certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Standard First Aid and AED Certification, Lifeguard Instructor certification through the American Red Cross, current YMCA Swim Instructor certification and/or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification.
- Must be able to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- Must have at least three years aquatics experience.
- Must be able to train staff and volunteers; must be able to supervise and train on non-certified subjects. Must possess good communication and human relation skills.
- Responsible for the management of pool operations for year-round indoor pool and seasonal outdoor pool.
Salary: $42,144.00 - $63,216.00
