Summary Statement

 AARP New York (Albany) is looking for an undergraduate intern  with the energy, drive, skill set and ability to pick things up quickly to help change the dialogue on some of the most important issues to the most powerful voting demographic in the state and nation: the 50+.


Responsibilities

We are seeking a digitally savvy intern to assist in reaching media, organizations, communities, and influencers throughout the state. You will conduct research, draft press releases, engage media outlets and reporters, work on social media and blog posts, and compile and track print & digital metrics.

Throughout your internship, you will be connecting with members, volunteers, and staff so that you can understand and help share the full story of our work across New York State. You may be asked to shoot video and take photos at events; interview people with stories to share; and research and write media advisories, blogs, and social media posts. This internship is highly customizable depending on you and your creativity.


Requirements

You will be expected to have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Facebook and Twitter. In addition, experience with any or all of the following software/applications is highly desirable: Creating and editing videos, YouTube, WordPress, Instagram, Buffer, Spredfast, or Hootsuite.

You must have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively; have an interest in learning about issues impacting people 50+; possess excellent organizational and communications skills; and be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week in our Manhattan office.

Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors.
