The Regional Operations team is seeking a Senior Vice President, Advisory Support to provide interim intervention capacity to regions. This support will be on-the-ground and short-term, focused on stabilizing and building capacity for regions most in need of intervention and support. The SVP, Advisory Support also will play a substantial systems leadership role, focused not only on building regional capacity but also on systematizing solutions, based on trends and insights gathered during on-the-ground regional work. This position was created in response to the need for additional capacity during times of senior-level transition, vacancy, and urgent or emergent needs within regions. The SVP, Advisory Support will report directly to the SVP, Executive Leadership & Learning on the Regional Operations team.
- Provide short-term, on-the-ground stabilization and capacity-building for regions identified as most at risk (e.g., due to senior-level transition, vacancy, or other urgent opportunities or needs) through direct support
- Identify and help implement systemic solutions, based on trends and insights gathered during on-the-ground regional work, to help reduce the number of regions who need this support, plus the duration of support they need, over the next three to five years
- Leverage partners (e.g., other national team members, regional boards) to assist in supporting the stabilization of these at-risk regions (i.e., regions in a leadership transition or facing other key challenges)
- Serve on Teach For America’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the senior body of leaders across the organization responsible for driving the results, impact, and transformation of Teach For America
- For each identified region:
- Partner with the managers of record (SVP, Regional Field Executive) to align on vision, scope and plan for work
- Assess and analyze regional situation to determine plan of action
- Build and manage the strategies and operational plan to achieve the short- and medium-term stabilization and capacity-building goals of the region
- Develop an exit strategy and prepare recommendations for how the region can sustain progress over time
- Minimum 7-10 years professional work experience
- Experience managing teams and coaching executive leaders
- Experience leading change management efforts
- Experience leading a Teach For America region as an Executive Director highly preferred
Work Demands
- Travel estimated to be three weeks a month, for multiple days at a time
- Willing to work occasional weekend or evening work hours required
