Integrated Communications & Marketing is a multimedia, service-focused communications and marketing operation that leads in shaping the impression of AARP by providing communications planning, marketing, support and execution for AARP’s strategic business units.
Summary Statement
Plays an integral role in helping AARP’s Staying Sharp digital program (stayingsharp.aarp.org) to achieve its ambitious goal of delivering a business-to-business (B2B) solution. Works externally to launch and support third-party programs with partners and then champions internally the roadmaps to achieve best-in-class benchmarks on cost, as well as service levels. This is a critical priority role for the organization seeking to scale the Staying Sharp program. Strategically partners with organizations, such as United Health ($185b), Walgreens ($117b), and Prudential ($54b).
Responsibilities
- Collaborates enterprise-wide with internal leaders to develop and nurture a B2B ecosystem for the Staying Sharp program.
- Champions the B2B business model and executes against it, including KPIs, pilots, and scalable partnerships.
- Develops a strong sense of empathy with the Staying Sharp program to build a deep understanding and contextual knowledge to effectively tell the program’s story to B2B partners.
- Creates two plus years business roadmaps to garner support and future investment from senior management.
- Gathers feedback from partners on how the program should evolve to meet the highest number of customer needs, including:
- Responsible for all aspects of program management, including:
- Defining the overall targets and acting as the key liaison.
- Defining the strategy to achieve the goals
- Defining key projects, sequencing, and milestones.
- Evangelizing the program, successes, and pilots.
- Works with Information Systems and Business Analytics to ensure the requisite systems and reporting infrastructure is in place.
- Identifies dependencies in functional work streams and ensures issues are escalated and resolved quickly.
- Develops and directs procedures and methods to ensure quality standards are met and maintained within the program.
- Tracks and communicates the program’s progress.
- Thinks as a business leader.
Requirements
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or other related degree (Master’s degree in a related field preferred) and 10+ years of experience in a related field demonstrating expertise in business development and partnership development. Familiarity with the 50+ segment is a plus.
- Experience in working in a large, complex organization. Strong interpersonal, influence, and negotiating skills.
- Excellent business judgment and ability to recognize business implications of data.
- Action orientation. A decisive quick study with proven analytical ability and strategic business and product development/management skills.
- Demonstrated track record of effectively building and implementing large-scale partnership programs.
- Experience focused in managing subscription-based programs.
- Ability to influence / negotiate with teams to produce desired outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skill.
- PowerPoint expert.
- Strong planning and organizing skills.
- Initiative and follow-up, including a strong sense of autonomy.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal savvy.
- Travel required (10-20%).
