The Managing Director, Program Innovation and Design will lead our efforts to explore innovative practices in teaching and learning and support the evolution of our program design. This individual will lead our systems learning lab reinvention pilot, which seeks to provide an innovative learning space for students and alumni teachers to learn from, and collaborate with, our national and global network. This individual will hire, train, and oversee the school based staff executing our regional summer institute (or summer learning experience) and work to integrate future focused competencies in the design of our summer learning experience.
The ideal candidate has a history of strong results and proven ability to plan and execute long-term projects. This individual is visionary, gets energy from interacting with others, and is excited by designing and facilitating learning experiences. This individual thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is able to think boldly and outside the box to take strategic risks that results in learning. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Future Focused Teaching & Learning (50%)
- Systems Learning Lab: Overall project management of systems learning lab initiative, including overseeing recruitment, collaboration, and coordination of students, alumni, and community members; creating partnerships and opportunities for students and teachers to earn credit for their learning; designing and facilitating professional learning experiences; capturing and sharing knowledge and learning for regional team, national organization, and broader community; participation in systems learning lab programming.
- Future Focused Competencies: Explore and engage with opportunities related to the future of education and future-focused competencies; develop recommendations for how we might strengthen our regional practices to integrate future focused competencies in our work.
Summer Institute/Summer Learning Experience (25%)
- Work to integrate future focused competencies into the design of our summer institute (or summer learning experience)
- Oversee hiring and training of part-time staff for a regional summer institute (or summer learning experience)
- <If summer institute> Manage the school-based teams (2 school directors, 7 corps member advisors/instructional coaches, 1 school operations manager) + 1 Diversity, Equity, Inclusiveness (DEI) facilitator during the summer
- <If summer learning experience> Support the curriculum development for the summer learning experience; manage part-time staff
Program Initiatives (10%)
- Future-focused Competencies - design opportunities for program leads and full program team to come together and become more fluent in these competencies; and support team to evolve practices as appropriate.
- Participate in program initiatives discussions related to program continuum, broader student outcomes, theory of leadership and future-focused competencies.
All Staff Contributions (15%)
- Regional team engagements as defined in FY20 Staff Engagement Expectations, which may include participation and planning support of all staff stepbacks, participation in selection and matriculation, contributions cross team, and participate in community organizations
- 8 to 10 years of work experience, at least some in teacher training and development
- Knowledge of the education landscape in Hawaii preferred
- Experience in an entrepreneurial environment preferred
