Responsible for overall administration of gymnastics in accordance with the policies established by the Board of Directors of the Bath Area Family YMCA, along with the mission and goals of the YMCA. This person will promote team building and camaraderie between team members, their parents and other team coaches.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Plans and implements programs, leagues, camps, clinics and classes which may include but are not limited to preschool, school age and pre-team.
- Establishes new program activities and expands programs in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Ensures proper building coverage is present for all program-related functions in accordance with program needs.

- Know and follow the USA Gymnastics policies and procedures and compulsory routines including proper spotting techniques.
- Recognize individual differences and adjust teaching strategies as needed for the success of all gymnastics.
- Enforce specific rules and regulations which limit risk to participants.
- Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions including procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents and hazards.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records, files, and billing and collection procedures.
- Facilitate communication and provide leadership. Model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
- Ensures a positive working and program environment emphasizing the YMCA’s areas of focus and character values.
- Supervise the development and recruitment of volunteer staff and interns
- Always follow and enforce safety guidelines, ensuring a safe environment, both physically and emotionally, for all participants and staff. Ensure compliance with state and local regulations and ensure that program standards are met.
- Work cooperatively with the Facilities Department to ensure the cleanliness and safety of all program equipment and facility areas.
- Provide leadership in the organization, preparation, and upkeep of program equipment.
Skills/Experience:
- 2-3 years of related instruction, coaching or lesson planning.
- Instruction for JO levels 2-5, and Xcel Silver-Diamond
- Current USA Gymnastics Safety Certification or obtain within first 30 days of hire.
- Practical knowledge of progressive skill building as related directly to instructional gymnastics and working knowledge of USA gymnastics.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Possess strong leadership qualities and work as a team member.
- A passion for supporting positive youth development through gymnastics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn other software programs.
