The Fayette County Family YMCA, located in Vandalia, Illinois is looking for someone who develops, organizes and implements high-quality YMCA sports, programs, and services. Our Y is in its 9th year of its new facility and location, which resides on a 9-acre campus, with over 4 acres of sports fields. Our programs see nearly 2,000 participants each year and the facility has an annual traffic rate of over 50,000. Our service area consists of a near 35-mile radius with lots of growth potential. We have a new strategic plan, energized staff and wonderful community support which has resulted in outgrowing our existing model. Our Y is exploring all options to expand our services, facility, and area of operation to meet the needs of our large service area.

As this position is integral to our operations, The Y is seeking individuals with a proactive, forward-thinking initiative to ensure our services are not only carried out effectively and efficiently, but also developed for future success. This position will carry out its existing sports, programs, and services, as well as explore other markets and develop new services to meet the needs of our large service area. As the Fayette County Family YMCA's operation and service area is growing, we are looking for an individual to build relationships and foster new connections to continue expanding our services. Salary will be determined based upon experience. Starting bennefit package includes: Retirement/IRA with company match, free family membership, and cell phone reimbursement. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Expands programs within the community in accordance with our strategic plan and in line with the community needs.
  • Provides good fiscal stewardship with the programs and services. 
  • Assists in developing annual budget for all program activities.
  • Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits. Prepares venues for programs when needed.
  • Maintains the integrity of our 4 acre Miller Field sports campus.
  • Creates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations. Organizes and conducts training and meetings for coaches.
  • Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.
  • Oversees the continuation and further development of the afterschool program
  • Develop, recruit, and execute a summer camp.
  • Fills in as an official if needed.
  • Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes team photographs.
  • Markets and distributes program information, organizes and schedules program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations and implements themselves into the community.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prepares, attends and assists the Wellness Director in the delivery of the Membership / Program committee.
  • Compiles program statistics and monitors/evaluates its effectiveness.
  • Supervises program staff and other staff as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent higher education.
Skills/Experience: 
  • One or two years experience in related field is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED. If not certified, it will be provided upon hiring.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00
