Senior Staff Accountant

Performs general day-to-day accounting functions for the organization and ensures compliance with the company’s fiscal policies and procedures. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assists in month-end close activities including but not limited to review and analysis of income statement and balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepares monthly bank and account reconciliations.
  • Reviews staff accountants’ monthly close activities.
  • Ensure completion of monthly close on a timely basis.
  • Assists in the preparation of interim and year-end audit working papers as assigned.
  • Assists in the preparation of IRS Tax Form 990s.
  • Trains and develops local staff and bookkeepers.
  • Work directly with staff outside of Finance to ensure consistent application of accounting policies.
  • Supports Accounting team with adhoc projects, workflow processes improvements and other related duties as necessary.
  • Interfaces with internal and outside agencies as required.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and programs to promote the field and campaign fundraising initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • Public accounting experience
  • Financial accounting software knowledge, ideally NetSuite
  • Solid computer skills including MS Office Suite, Excel proficient (VLookups and Pivot tables)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Solid organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
