We are currently searching to fill an immediate position for a full-time Facility Engineer to support all facets of building maintenance for the Anthony Bowen branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington. The Facility Engineer will be responsible for the performance of maintenance, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping activities at their assigned branch.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance, repair work on the facility; to include but not limited to mechanical, electrical, other installed systems and housekeeping duties
  • Promptly, efficiently and safely respond to maintenance issues including cleanliness and mechanical electrical plumbing (MEP )issues
  • Performs the work orders for the branch and supports Branch Engineers
  • Maintain, operate all HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, building management system, and building repairs; Perform facility inspections and report on condition affecting operations and recommended actions to be taken
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and set priorities
  • Respond to emergencies; subject to after hours and weekend calls
  • Performs additional projects as assigned by the VP Property & Facilities
Educational Background: 
High school diploma or GED
Skills/Experience: 
  • Pool Operators Certification
  • Working knowledge of ADA, OSHA
  • Extensive experience working on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry/drywall repairs
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Supervision and staff development
  • Deductive reasoning and critical thinking
  • Facility management
  • Preventive maintenance skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to pass a background/drug check

Other skills and abilities required:

  • Standing, walking, sitting, reading, stooping, climbing ladders, crawling in and through low spaces;  Hand and finger dexterity, clear speech, hearing and listening, reading and writing, basic math and analytical skills, sound judgment, problem-solving and decision making; Heavy lifting and moving equipment.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 (annually)
