Data Analyst, Sponsorship and Development

Primarily responsible for analysis to support NPR’s corporate sponsorship and development units, as well as other department ad hoc research requests as needed, with timely and accurate audience research through data processing and analysis. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Process and analyze audience data from primary and secondary sources to primarily support NPR’s sponsorship and development units.
  • Run reports using proprietary media research software and databases (including platforms from Nielsen Audio, comScore, Mediamark Research, Google Analytics, Splunk, Act1 among others).
  • Create and update research-driven marketing materials for corporate sponsorship staff, including reports, fact sheets, and presentations.
  • Program and test survey instruments using SurveyGizmo and Questback platforms.
  • Assist with analyzing data, and communicating key findings through memos and presentations to meet needs of internal constituencies
  • Respond to time-sensitive, ad-hoc research queries from sponsorship staff.
  • Use Internet and other secondary sources to compile bi-annual updates on audiences to competitive media.
  • Assist with digital metrics reporting.
  • Analyze audience demographics, attitudes and purchasing information for annual Profile report distributed to all member stations.
  • Maintain departmental NPR Station site and Intranet site
  • Collaborate with research staff and others in interpreting results of both primary and secondary research.
  • Collaborate with research staff and others in producing/developing recurring deliverables such as semi-annual Snapshots document and Audience Handbook.
  • Collaborate with research staff on other projects to support department.
  • Stay current on public radio and media environment by reporting on industry webinars, publications and events for the benefit of the department
  • Manage Arbitron survey installations, help create ACT1 lineups and identify and resolve data issues.
Educational Background: 
Four year college degree in statistics, business, information management, or related field, or comparable work experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience.
  • Demonstrated data analysis, data interpretation and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills using Windows, Access (or other comparable databases) and other processing.
  • Proficient in Excel, preferably with the ability to write macros.
  • Detail orientation.
  • Strong desire to work with databases and numbers.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to juggle multiple projects and deal with people in a variety of settings.
  • Knowledge of public radio, Nielsen Audio, comScore, and media research databases is a plus.
  • Familiarity with media and market research techniques and methodology a plus.
  • Knowledge of SPSS or a programming language a plus.
  • Experience with survey platforms like SurveyGizmo or Survey Monkey a plus
