The Financial Analyst of Research Administration works as part of a team and is a key resource in delivering various financial reports and providing support for strategic initiatives. In addition to assisting with the preparation of monthly financial reports, the Financial Analyst of Research Administration, under the general direction of the Senior Director of Research Administration, is responsible for conducting analyses of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s complex portfolio of research awards and Medical Department operations, collecting information from multiple sources and compiling the information to effectively draw reasonable conclusions.
Financial Reporting
Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Research Administration, the Financial Analyst of Research Administration:
- Prepares complex fiscal budgets, financial models, and forecasting reports for the Medical Department.
- Assists with financial monitoring of executed grants, awards and contracts.
- Participates in the annual financial audit of grants, contracts and awards as requested.
- Collaborates with Finance staff to reconcile variances between grants and financial management systems.
- Assists with preparing monthly cash flow projections for Finance and Medical Departments.
- Prepares monthly projected expenses and adjusts annual forecasts; compares actual to projected expenses.
- Provides support for the monthly financial close process and performs ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed.
Data Analytics and Strategic Planning
- Analyzes and forecasts metrics that drive budgeting, forecasting, and organizational decisions.
- Builds models to integrate data from various systems into the analytics platform; verifies data integrity.
- Assists with identifying and defining business rules, metrics, KPIs and business intelligence reports required to support the Medical Department and CFF operations.
- Prepares detailed financial models for the Medical Department and Program Officers.
- Reports weekly and monthly on financial and operating metrics.
- Uses expertise to characterize portfolio of grants, awards, and contracts.
- Monitors compliance with controls and systems and identifies and proposes new processes to support the organization.
- Contributes to major work efforts and projects; identifies issues and opportunities; works with team members and cross-functionally to move projects forward.
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience.
- Prior work experience in not-for-profit organization.
- Prior work experience designing databases, queries, and reports.
- Prior experience working with financial databases and preparing financial reports.
- Prior work experience in a grant-making organization.
Preferred
- Proven ability to consolidate extensive data findings from multiple sources.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Grants Management Certification.
- Basic understanding of SQL or other programming language(s).
