World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks an undergraduate research intern.
The WWF is a leading conservation organization; our half-century of conservation success is rooted firmly in science. Over the last decade we have worked in food systems to advance our mission of people living in harmony with nature, with the acknowledgement that one of the biggest threats to this mission has long been where and how we produce food. More specifically, through our years of research, we have identified production of protein, including livestock, seafood, and plant-based proteins as a critical nexus for sustainable food systems. As negative impacts from food production continue to grow due to expanding populations, increasing incomes, shifts in consumption patterns and climate change, our work is now more crucial than ever before.
This internship provides an opportunity for an undergraduate-level student to contribute to critical research around global food systems at the intersection of environmental and human health. The Protein Sustainability team is working with an international, interdisciplinary team of experts to fill pressing research gaps on the drivers of change in food systems, where food is consumed, technological advances, and policy analysis.
- Reading and extracting data from scientific literature in ecological and social science fields
- Data entry and management
- Participating in team meetings and calls with research leads
- Logistical support as needed
- Full-time (35 hours per week) or part-time (20 hours per week) availability
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, as well as attention to detail
- Ability to work productively on both independent research assignments and as part of a team
- Proactive problem-solving and effective communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Familiarity with accessing and reading scientific papers
- Database and quantitative analysis skills a plus
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in a foreign language is a plus
