We seek a Gymnastics Coach/Team Administrator to join our long-standing program with 60+ competitive gymnasts housed in its own facility.

The Gymnastics Coach/Team Administratorprovides the highest level of coaching to all participants of the gymnastics program, ages 2 – 18. The Gymnastics Coach/Team Administrator is responsible for all administrative functions for the competitive gymnastics team.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serve as an ambassador of the YMCA.  Exemplify the four character values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility with participants, staff and the general public.
  • Coach classes and all levels of the Gymnastics competitive team. Provide leadership and impart enthusiasm for gymnastics    to all team members.
  • Demonstrate gymnastics knowledge and skills as appropriate for all skill levels.
  • Assist gymnasts with stretching by walking around and physically helping them.
  • Coaches must remain actively engaged with the gymnasts. 
  • Review lesson plans as provided by the Gymnastics Director.  Follow the daily lesson plan and ensure that lessons are being run safely and smoothly and that gymnasts are on-task and keeping busy until they are asked to switch stations.
  • Help arrange the gym by setting up or breaking down equipment needed.  Report any equipment issues to Gymnastics Director.
  • Be the first point of contact (phone and email) for team questions. Respond to all inquiries, requests or complaints promptly.
  • Attend staff meetings and approved trainings as required. 
  • Maintain the currency of required certifications.
  • Attend meets as requested by the Gymnastics Director.
  • Coordinate with the Gymnastics Director all administrative aspects of hosting meets (i.e. registration, session layout, communication with visiting teams, etc.)
  • Assist the Gymnastics Director in the planning of program promotional events and team recognition events.
  • Work closely with the Gymnastics Program Administrator on any necessary administrative issues or concerns.
  • Observes and discusses individual progress of team members with Gymnastics Director and parents.  Develops rapport with class participants/team members and responds to related questions.
  • Ensures safe and effective practices.  Responds to, and reports, accidents and incidents immediately to parents and the Gymnastics Director.
  • Establish and implement ongoing communication with families.
  • Assist the Gymnastics Director in the marketing of the gymnastics team program.
  • Input team online registration into Daxko.
  • Act as Team website (Team Snap) administrator.
  • Be a positive role model for the youth in the program and represent the Riverbrook Regional YMCA in a positive manner.
  • If job responsibilities include access to protected health information, the employee may access protected health information (PHI) only to the extent that it is necessary for job requirements. May only share PHI with those who have a need to know specific member/participant/employee information in order to complete job responsibilities related to the individual’s participation, payment or company operations. Is expected to complete required HIPAA privacy training and maintain HIPAA compliance at all times.
  • Actively participates in and upholds the YMCA’s mission to be open and accessible to everyone, regardless of financial situation or special need .Contributes time to raise funds for this worthy and necessary endeavor by supporting the Y’s Annual Giving and Capital Development campaigns.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Current USAG membership required.
  • Knowledge of USAG standards and level requirements required. 
  • Current USAG safety certifications required
  • CPR/AED Certification required

Physical Demands:

Coaches must have sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential coaching functions, including but not limited to spotting and moving equipment.  Ability to demonstrate basic gymnastics skills is a plus.
