The Owensboro Family YMCA is seeking an outgoing leader with a business mind and a servant heart to lead our organization and be actively involved in the community.
The new CEO will lead staff by evaluating their strengths/opportunities and providing a comprehensive development plan to help motivate and guide them to meet their full potential as well as completing an analysis of possible shared services with neighboring YMCAs in marketing, human resources, training, innovation, cost sharing, program development, accounts payable/receivables etc. to maximize financial and knowledge resources.
Operations is a fundamental part of the ability to provide services to the community through a sound financial plan (annual support campaign, fundraising, special events, membership & program revenue, and solid budgeting and fiscal practices). The right candidate must be able to develop an annual tactical plan for achieving key program metrics as defined annually by the board, volunteer committee members and staff, aligned with the strategic plan as well as possess the ability to make quick and sound decisions based on facts with solid follow-through and implementation plan.
It is imperative that these goals be met within the first year as CEO:
- Organize a strategic plan based on feedback from the community leaders;
- Provide financials that produce accurate reports, which will provide reliable decision-making direction for staff and volunteers;
- Create programs that address the needs of the community including faith based, family programs, value-added membership programs;
- Create trust in the community to change the perception of the Y being a “fee-based” membership facility to a leading non-profit of services to the community at large;
- Create a comprehensive staff development plan to enhance the quality and services delivered by the YMCA.
As a driving force for healthy living in Owensboro, the new leader must:
- Have the ability to build partnerships between a diverse group of stakeholders in a community and leverage collaborative opportunities;
- Be an ambassador for the YMCA movement through engaging communication (written, verbal and presentation) regarding the programs and the impact it has in the community, actively involvement in a variety of civic and community organizations as well as partnership and collaborations that are creative and non-traditional;
- Must be able to assess the needs of the community and provide services and procure resources to meet those needs while upholding the vision and strategic plan of the YMCA of Owensboro and reposition the Y in the community.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
- Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.
- Must have the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
- Have the ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.
- Experience with facilitating board task groups; facilities, membership and community impact.
Preferred Criteria for Candidates:
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification.
- Fiscally sound business management approach.
- Experienced leader of Strategic planning
- Fundraising experience including annual campaigns and the securing of grants.
- A proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management in excess of $750,000 or more annually.
Salary is Commensurate with Experience. Hiring range is $70,000 - $85,000 annualized. Benefits include a defined contribution plan with 10% of salary contributed by the association with 2% contribution from staff (when eligibility requirements are met). 100% paid life and long-term disability coverage; 90% medical, dental and vision coverage; contribution for the employee only benefits will offset the premium for dependent coverage if so elected; supplemental life, disability, and flexible spending accounts are available.
