Responsible for effectively implementing the member engagement model with an emphasis on membership
Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Member Involvement Director is responsible for effectively implementing the member engagement model with an emphasis on membership development as it relates to retention, promoting a positive YMCA image in the community, and performing center marketing functions.
This position is responsible for the supervision of designated full-time and part-time employees (if applicable) along with supervising and overseeing our LIVESTRONG program, volunteer recruitment, and member service training, as it relates to member engagement, satisfaction and retention. May produce branch/member newsletters and oversee all member events.
A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, recreation or related field, or its equivalent, is required and 2-4 years professional experience. Must possess outstanding public relations skills, tact, diplomacy, and a clear, courteous and professional manner with people and enjoy a high degree of public contact, both within the YMCA facility and the community. High level of written, oral and people-oriented communication skills and the ability to work independently and handle numerous projects concurrently is required. Ability to use word processing software, with database and spreadsheet software ability highly desirable. Ability to use desktop publishing for marketing functions preferred. Strong organizational and marketing skills are highly desirable. Experience and ability with maintaining website and utilizing other electronic media (e.g. social networking) to engage and inform members. Thorough knowledge of budget development and management, income production and expense control is essential. Ability to establish positive relationships with community organizations and corporations in promotion of membership, program and the YMCA mission.
