The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is seeking a Recruiter to work out of our Association Resource Center.  The Recruiter will focus on building awareness of Y careers, attracting and identifying qualified candidates that meet the needs of the organization, enhancing the Y’s employment brand and strengthening the Y workforce by developing and marketing the Y employment brand. These positions wil focus on specific areas in our organization such as Youth Development programs or our Membership Centers.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Contribute to the achievement of the Y’s cause of strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. 
  • Works with the Vice President of People Experience and Engagement and the recruitment team to develop recruitment strategies and tactics which support the Y’s employment brand and lead to successful recruitment of cause-driven associates.
  • Leads the implementation of the Y’s recruitment strategies for assigned areas.
  • Builds applicant pool by identifying and maintaining relationships with strategically targeted markets including community services, schools, employment agencies, recruiters, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits.
  • Uses appropriate sourcing strategies such as career fairs, online job fairs, community network events, online marketing, social networks (i.e., LinkedIn and Facebook), etc., to identify and attract quality candidates. 
  • Develops and maintains excellent relationships with Y associates and volunteers including the People Services Team, Association Leadership Team, and both full- and part-time associates to ensure achievement of recruitment goals.
  • Works with People Services Team and hiring managers to ensure compliance with all federal/state laws and regulations, including affirmative action plan compliance.
  • Manages candidate process and activity in the applicant tracking system (iCIMS) ensuring the optimal candidate experience and sourcing for open positions. 
  • Maintains memberships and affiliations with assigned trade/professional organizations related to recruitment.  
  • Serves as a Y ambassador to the community, arranging for a Y recruitment presence at career fairs, and community events.  
  • Implements specific sourcing strategies to ensure a diverse applicant pool, supporting the Y’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Responsible for partnering with local universities and organizations to build an applicant pipeline for both full- and part-time positions.
  • Actively work with hiring managers to manage accuracy of open position postings and ensure hiring processes are followed to provide high quality service to candidates.
  • Educate leaders on recruitment and selection policies, priorities and effective strategies.
  • Working with the People Services Coordinator, ensure that needed candidate travel arrangements, lodging and meals are made; coordinates interview process including schedules, refreshments, and packets; and organizes community tours.
  • Partners with hiring managers to develop screening and interview questions that reflect the leadership competencies and ensure qualified staff that will support the Y’s cause-driven culture.
  • May generate, analyze and distribute recruitment reports on a weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis.
  • Train hiring managers on the use of the applicant tracking system (iCIMS).
  • Work with hiring managers to ensure a positive applicant experience supporting the employment brand.
  • Know and understand the YMCA's needs, programs, benefits, management structure, and advancement policies.
  • May assist in managing intern programs with clear standards and guidelines by reviewing internship agreements; scheduling assignments; monitoring intern responsibilities; advising managers on training and coaching; and building relationships with schools.
  • Participate in delivering New Associate Orientation on a regular basis.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related area from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years professional experience in recruitment related area with demonstrated successful experience working as part of a team to accomplish goals and outcomes.
  • Proven success in implementing recruitment strategies.
  • Demonstrates solid expertise in using applicant tracking systems, data mining research techniques and advanced internet searches. Experience with iCIMS preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills with the ability to independently compose recruitment materials.
  • Knowledge of employment and recruitment trends and potential impact on organizational strategies and goals. 
  • Ability to represent the Y to the community and with prospective candidates to enhance our employment brand and sourcing effectiveness.
  • Excellent organizational skills and maintenance of confidentiality in all aspects of human resource management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet recruitment deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel to Y centers, career fairs, community events, and  trainings.

Must maintain a current motor vehicle license and acceptable driving record that meets YMCA standards.
