NRDC is seeking a communications director with excellent writing, media relations and social media skills to work with the E2 team to amplify business, military, agriculture and other diverse voices in support of smart environmental policies at the federal, regional and state levels.
Working with E2’s members and E2 and NRDC staff, the E2 Communications Director will be at the center of delivering the critical message to the public and to policymakers that the economy and the environment are not at odds, and that smart environmental and clean energy policies in fact can and do lead to strong economic and jobs growth. This message is more important than ever given the recent national election.
This position will be located in NRDC’s Washington DC office.
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategic communications plans for E2, its members, staff and volunteer advocates in Washington DC, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Denver, Boston and elsewhere
- Manage E2’s communications work at the state, regional and federal levels
- Manage and substantially increase E2’s social media presence and work, including its Twitter, Facebook and other channels
- Manage, oversee and regularly update E2’s e2.org Web site and related properties
- Develop and manage media lists
- Write, distribute and manage E2 press releases/statements
- Manage media inquiries and serve as spokesperson for E2 as needed
- Write, edit and help place strategic op-eds, blogs and other opinion pieces working with E2 members and staff
- Develop talking points and other assets for E2 members and staff
- Oversee production and editorial content for E2 reports
- Coordinate communications campaigns with allies
- Oversee and manage outside communications consultants and freelance writers
