YMCA Buffalo Niagara is pursuing an experienced executive director with a passion for the YMCA mission and cause, an understanding of YMCA programs and services, and whose everyday priorities are a reflection of core YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The Branch Executive Director will oversee all operations at the Lockport Family YMCA.

During The Construction Period, The Branch Executive Director Will Manage Both The Existing Branch And Also Develop The New Branch's

Construction of a brand new, state of the art, 52,000 square foot facility on a 31 acre lot in the Lockport area begins this summer. The branch executive director will oversee all operations of the existing facility on East Ave, which will continue to operate until the new facility opens in October 2018.

Currently, this branch has an operating budget of $1,474,241 , with a dedicated staff of 5 full-time employees and 92 part-time employees. There are 19 active members serving on the volunteer Board of Management. In 2017, $92,631 was raised for the annual fundraising campaign. The successful capital campaign for the new facility has raised more than $10M. There are 1,335 membership units, before and after school programming both on and off site, wellness and aquatics programs, and a 120 bed resident camp, YMCA Camp Kenan, located on the beautiful shore of Lake Ontario in Barker NY.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Coordinates the development of the Branch Board of Management and committees. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
  • Plans, organizes and implements the annual campaign. Directs all financial development activities of the branch.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops working relationships with other businesses, organizations, and governmental entities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in the service delivery area.
  • Recruits and selects professional staff in consultation with the Human Resources Director. Supervises and appraises the work of professional staff and provides opportunities for leadership development, establishes performance standards and conducts thoughtful performance appraisals.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff.
  • Develops, manages and monitors the branch operating budget and meets budget targets. Exercises necessary controls to ensure operations are carried out and a balanced fiscal operation exists.
  • Maintains a well-balanced program menu that encourages membership. Ensures that all quality standards and program enrollment targets are met.
  • Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association mission, goals and strategies.
  • Develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, program areas, and equipment.
  • Implements branch marketing and communication efforts.
  • Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
  • Carries out other tasks as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00
