The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is actively seeking a cause driven leader to join the senior leadership team as Senior Vice President - Advancement.  This is an outstanding opportunity for someone ready to join one of the premier YMCAs in the country in the early phases of an aggressive growth plan.  The Dallas YMCA has a track record of exceptional financial development particularly with Annual and Capital Campaigns.  We are looking for an individual who will work closely with the President/CEO and Capital Campaign Committee to share the impact of the Y while securing philanthropic, capital support. We are one of the largest YMCAs in North America serving 250,000 people annually through programs including teen outreach, aquatics, youth sports, childcare and health and wellness.  These programs are administered by a full and part-time staff of over 2,200 who serve at 21 branches, including 2 camps. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Vice President – Advancement is responsible for growing and managing a portfolio of high-profile donors, foundations and corporations in support of expanding current locations and building new YMCA branches. Additionally, assists the President/CEO in developing an actively engaged fundraising Board of Directors and in positioning the YMCA as a “Charity of Choice” within the community. Additional responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to cultivate, solicit and secure capital gifts.
  • Create and implement thoughtful strategies to attract gifts from prospects working with the President/CEO to establish goals and targets.
  • Working with senior Staff, develop case for capital support to assure an engaging, clear and consistent message is articulated to donors and volunteers and communicated throughout our service area.
  • Work closely with Vice President – Financial Development on joint capital/annual asks where appropriate and stewardship efforts of donors giving to both.
  • Build relationships with new donors through prospecting using a variety of sources while enhancing ongoing relationships with existing donors.
  • Adhere to established protocols such as the YMCAs Gift Acceptance Policy.
  • Oversee the development and systemization of work processes that contribute to accomplishment of goals and overall efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop unique and compelling proposals for foundations, individual supporters and other funding sources.
  • Work with development staff on wealth screening and preparing profiles of current and prospective donors.
  • Work closely with internal and external constituents to insure all possible sources of philanthropic support are appropriately realized.
  • Maintain YMCAs Stewardship Plan while creating personalized recognition for high level donors.
  • Champion the YMCA mission. 
  • Represent the YMCA as required by the President.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • 8-10 years of successful fundraising experience at a senior level; Dallas and/or North Texas areas preferred.
  • CFRE or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to relate to top community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles.
  • Ability to create materials enabling potential donors to understand the YMCA and how their gift contributes to mission delivery.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: Salary will be commensurate with experience- minimum $175,000.00
