This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.The Membership Director intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Works closely with and follows the direction of the Branch Executive Director to ensure exceptional delivery of programs and services to members and participants.
- Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Effectively plans and executes strategies that support member retention and engagement; ensuring that membership retention goals are met. Fosters a climate of innovation.
- Promotes program and membership enrollment. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in, and web registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
- Oversees the hiring, training, development and supervision of member services and childwatch staff.
- Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
- Responsible for some administrative duties and reporting around membership data, finances, renewals, terminations and data clean up.
- Reports monthly membership metrics and explains variances. Creates new strategies to increase/exceed goals
- Responsible for assisting with annual campaigns and articulating to members/community to increase awareness and participation
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience:
- YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
- Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00
