Context: The Sierra Club is growing and in the process of launching a variety of marketing initiatives, spanning the member/supporter lifecycle overseen by the Deputy Chief Innovation Officer, Digital Engagement and several teams and departments. We are seeking a Marketing Project Coordinator to provide project coordination support for these initiatives.

Scope: The Marketing Project Coordinator is responsible for a range of activities in support of the broader organization-wide marketing effort, including project management, tracking budgets, managing vendor contracts and relationships, gathering program analytics and developing internal presentations and communications.  The Coordinator will be working with a range of senior staff, with an eye to ensuring individual projects are well aligned with one another, resources are distributed and shared efficiently, and projects are tracking to their goals.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Own and facilitate processes that ensure accurate prioritization and timely completion of marketing projects. Coordinate the moving parts and dependencies across marketing projects. Track projects, timelines and results to organizational objectives.
  • Identify risks to meeting targets and expectations early. Support the development of efforts to mitigate risk. Negotiate changes in project resources as necessary to achieve objectives and timelines. Advise on tradeoffs between projects and timelines to achieve the best results for the project overall.
  • Track project budget allocations with support from the Digital Operations Manager, contract status, and spending. Work with agencies and vendors to prioritize work and timelines across initiatives.
  • Develop strong working relationships and collaborate with the senior staff in Digital, Communications, Brand Marketing, and Fundraising who are engaging in marketing work.
  • Work with the teams supporting marketing initiatives such as Creative and Analytics to ensure an understanding of the priorities across projects.
  • Manage specific small to medium scale marketing program initiatives which will vary year to year based on program priorities, and play a supporting program management role in larger initiatives. Initiatives vary from year to year and may include collateral production, RFP coordination, short-term web projects, and more.. 
  • Produce status updates, reports and presentations which illustrate the results, risks, and issues for resolution across projects.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as directed.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years experience managing marketing projects or programs, including 1+ years in digital marketing.
  • Experience with operational aspects of marketing including managing contracts, budgets and vendors/agencies.
  • Skilled in the fundamentals of project management.
  • Great communication skills both in-person and working with remote staff.
  • Can develop compelling presentations which tell a meaningful and actionable story about what is happening in the business.
  • Solid understanding of key marketing success metrics.
  • Start-up attitude -- focused on solutions and willing to ask questions and learn about areas beyond your experience.
  • Ability to manage up and across in a matrixed structure. Skill in flexing your style to work collaboratively across a wide range of personal work styles, while maintaining the focus on results.
