Teach For America – New York is seeking an Associate of Development who will support the Development team to meet our highly ambitious annual fundraising targets. The Associate will be responsible for prospect research, data management, and administrative support for the team. Additionally, the Coordinator will be the primary support for our fundraising events, working closely with our Director of Events, and MD of Development. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, relationship-builder and project manager who is efficient and attentive to details. This person will also support institutional and individual giving workstreams during peak periods. The Associate will report directly to the Managing Director, Development, and will work with all members as part of the broader External Affairs team.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Event Planning and Execution (45%)

  • Work closely with Managing Director, Development to support execution of Annual Benefit Dinner, Ideas Conference, and other major fundraising events; serve as a key member of the events team and work closely with external events consultant on prospect management and donor stewardship for events portfolio of 1000+ donors.
  • Coordinate and/or manage registration, material preparation, onsite volunteer coordination and follow-up mailings for fundraising events.
  • Process, document, and reconcile contributions and manage all reporting for events in Salesforce
  • Maintain internal event budget and track relevant expenses; submit and process all invoices in accordance with TFA policies. Represent development team at monthly budget tracking meetings.

 Manage Database & Financial Reporting (45%)

  • Lead, own, and execute TFA-NY development data management system. Provide leadership for the NY Region Salesforce Data , including providing protocol to other team members, checking for accuracy, generating reports to promote efficiency across the team, and adding components as needed. Serve as team expert and coach in Salesforce database acquiring highest level of database manipulation and understanding
  • Track the Development team’s budget and process AMEX reports and reimbursements for the MD, Development and VP, External Affairs
  • Coordinate internal External Affairs team meetings working closely with VP, External Affairs
  • Serve as team point person for gift management, including working with the national Revenue Operations team and ensuring timely acknowledgement of gifts to our donors

 Team-wide and general staff responsibilities (10%)

  • Attend and participate in all-staff meetings, retreats, and step backs throughout the year
  • Matriculate incoming New York corps members during 4-5 confirmation windows throughout the year
  • Participate in corps member selection for up to 6 days total throughout the year
  • Staff large-scale regional events as needed
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 3 years of experience (preferably in non-profit or sales environment)
  • Knowledge of MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Salesforce or other fundraising database

Work demands:

  • Occasional weekend, early morning and evening work to support events
  • Desire to learn more about fundraising and nonprofit management
