This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Operations Director will oversee the development and operations of the New Berlin YMCA Wellness Center. Responsibilities include Wellness Center membership and program areas such as group exercise, personal training, the wellness floor and healthy living program development and implementation. The Operations Director is also responsible for staff recruitment, training and coaching as well as serving as a liaison to Committees and Advisory Boards.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages operations including program and membership for the New Berlin YMCA Wellness Center. Executes strategies and onsite facilitation, as required, to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
- Creates a welcoming culture that promotes appropriate wellness activities and programs to acheive desired results.
- Develops and controls department budgets related to the position.
- Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign, volunteer committees and boards as assigned.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community and key strategic partnerships.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
- Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and on-going training and coaching of staff.
- Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in human services, public health, health care or a related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Five or more years of experience leading wellness initiatives, preferably for an older adult population. Experience should include direct client and/or patient care.
- Demonstrated success in program implementation and facilitation including supervision and motivation of staff and volunteers, program development and fund-raising, budget creation and monitoring, marketing and public relations.
- Experience in effectively working with diverse populations.
- Proven track record of developing authentic and deepend relationships with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- Ability to demonstrate and lead exercise, coach and assist with exercise activities/classes, conduct wellness orientations, stand or walk for extended periods.
- Prefer experience in program start-up.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00
