Under the direction of the CEO and in keeping with the Mission of the YMCA, the Vice President of Alliance Services provides leadership, develops strategy and personalizes support for 8-10 NC YMCAs through board development, strategic planning and localized advocacy. They will implement the Alliance strategic plan and ensure excellent service to YMCAs in the NC Alliance of YMCAs portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to solve challenges independently while creating positive interactions with local Y staff, including CEOs and CVOs.
- Partners with 8-10 Y CEOs and CVOs to develop and implement volunteer development strategies to recruit and engage strong community leaders, including prospecting, recruiting, training and engaging.
- Provides coaching, training and support in board governance best practices to Ys in the portfolio.
- Connects local Ys to financial development best practices as presented by the SDPY, and supports the local Y’s efforts to execute those best practices.
- Actively seeks public and private funding opportunities that support Ys in portfolio and statewide.
- Supports the education of local Y Advisory Boards, committees and task forces by teaching best practices for policy and program volunteer activities, and attends local board meetings as needed.
- Supports YMCAs in strengthening work in local advocacy by teaching the importance of building and maintain strong relationships with city and county government, public schools, hospitals, foundations and civic organizations.
- Promotes Y-USA and all aspects of support and training available to local Ys, including Y Link, TPY, YPN, Service Delivery Partner Y and third party services.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Represents and promotes the NC Alliance of YMCAs in local communities, and develops working relationships with other businesses, organizations and governmental entities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships at all levels of Y leadership in the state.
- Serves as primary alliance link to third party suppliers and Y-USA, including Gro, Donor by Design, Praesidium, Redwoods, Daxko, etc.
- Supports other Alliance staff and volunteers in state and national advocacy.
- Serves as a member of YMCA leadership and supports the overall objectives of the NC Alliance of YMCAs.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
- Seven or more years comprehensive operational experience, preferably in the YMCA and/or not-for-profit sector, including strategic planning, board and volunteer development, and multi-site operations.
- Demonstrated experience in marketing, public relations and crisis communications.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to consult, counsel, and connect CEOs and CVOs to resources related to volunteer development, financial development, strategic planning, human resources, property and facility management, finance, and marketing.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders and develop collaborations with community organizations.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills (strong writing and grammar skills, strong verbal communication skills) using the Voice of the Y Brand.
- Excellent interpersonal skills that foster positive working relationships and excellent customer service.
