The Manager of Development is an important member of Delaware’s regional team. The role fuels critical components of our regional organization that enable our program to achieve maximum impact. This team sets the message across all our audiences, develops and executes events that rally the inspiration and commitment that long-term movements require. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the region to raise more than $6M over the next five years. You are able to easily navigate multiple projects simultaneously while operating with Teach For America’s core values. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy work that requires extensive attention to detail. The Manager of Development is part of a highly collaborative regional team and reports to the Executive Director.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Development & Individual Giving (65%)

  • Support the Executive Director to raise more than $6M in support from corporations, foundations and individual donors over the next five years.
  • Develop comprehensive meeting prep for the Executive Director including research, background, giving history, talking points and other relevant information.
  • Conduct prospect research to find and qualify potential partners for Teach For America-Delaware.
  • Develop compelling profiles of corps members, alumni, and students to be compiled in a region-wide story bank.
  • Execute large-scale mailings and communications and develop written collateral to support our regional impact narrative.
  • Prepare and send gift acknowledgement letters and prepare thank you cards within two weeks of gift receipt.
  • Maintain and track all donations and donor information in Salesforce with a goal of maintaining 100% accuracy in our record keeping.
  • Manage and execute annual Alumni Giving campaign to grow the number of alumni stewarding the organization annually with a financial gift.
  • Manage Sponsor A Teacher program to directly connect funders with classroom level impact.
  • Prepare tailored updates, newsletters, regional one-pagers, and marketing materials as needed.
  • Act as a brand ambassador ensuring that all regional materials adhere to Teach For America brand standards; take corrective action when needed.
  • Support the Executive Director to ensure streamlined, consistent communications to all constituents that are aligned to our regional key messages.
  • Create and maintain region-wide development dashboards in Salesforce. Create custom reports as requested to drive strategic decision-making and action.

AmeriCorps (25%)

  • Steward the relationship with the Delaware Americorps Office, including attending all Program Director required events and trainings.
  • Manage grant proposal process, including drafting grant application, meeting deadlines, completing all grant paperwork, and submitting all grant deliverables and interim reports to the state commission.
  • Host state commission for annual site visit and meetings, as requested.
  • Oversee eGrants enrollment and exiting, document collection, and filing, including tracking corps members’ AmeriCorps service hours and regularly entering data to maintain accuracy of all records and maintain compliance.
  • Plan and execute all AmeriCorps mandated service days, including MLK Day of Service.
  • Leverage relationships with the Program Team, to ensure compliance and maximize program results.
  • Maintain relationship with national AmeriCorps Manager and meet all internal AmeriCorps deadlines as specified by Sarah and/or Public Partnerships team.

Regional & Organizational Stewardship (10%)

  • Support team–wide goals for Delaware and the National Breakthrough Results through participation in corps member recruitment, selection and matriculation, regional events and programming, team meetings and professional development
  • Take on special projects as needed to maximize team results
  • Serve as alternate regional budget manager for the Manager of Operations
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2-4 years of professional experience preferred
  • Previous experience with Teach For America or in development a plus

Work Demands

  • Willing and able to work some early mornings, evenings or weekends when needed
  • Willing and able to travel 2-3 times per year for professional development purposes
