This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The compensation and benefits manager coordinates and administers the functions of the human resources department in providing equitable compensation for all employees and the best benefits possible within the parameters of the company's resources.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervises the ongoing maintenance of all employee job descriptions. Reviews grade levels to be sure they reflect all changes.
- Reviews incentive compensation plans in use within industry to see if altering provisions would improve incentive and morale among employees.
- Administers employee benefit program including life, health plans, dental plans and 403(b) plan, personal savings plan.
- Complies with the provisions of COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and ERISA and supervises filing of reports with state and federal agencies. Reviews Internal Revenue filings prepared by the accounting department.
- Oversees Workers’ Compensation for the association.
- Serves as backup to the Association Payroll Manager.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or human resources with a minimum of five years of experience in administering compensation or benefits programs – Master’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Excellent management and analytical skills.
- Thorough knowledge of the employee benefit, compensation, and workers’ compensation field.
- Thorough understanding of requirements of COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ERISA, and IRS rules on pertinent benefit programs.
- Thorough understanding of payroll processing.
- Sufficient accounting background to review administrators' reports and to check IRS filings in detail.
- Computer skills including Word, Excel, and company's accounting package.
