The Camp and School Age Director is responsible for developing, organizing, implementing and supervising high quality YMCA Before and After School Programs and Summer Camp programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Plans, organizes, promotes and provides leadership to the Before and After School Care program.
- Plans and organizes Snow Day and Days Off Program.
- Responsible for Summer Camp programs as assigned using the current curriculum and standards of the YMCA.
- Establish new program activities and expand program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Hires, schedules, trains, coaches and mentors staff during program hours.
- Maintains all state and local regulations and ratios.
- Executes administrative duties including, but not limited to payroll, reviews, staff meetings, branch meetings, brochure material preparation, program registration, incident reports etc.
- Responsible for daily structure of all programs.
- Making bus arrangements, ensure we are in safety compliance and routes per licensing.
- Understand and assist with rosters for all programs.
- Oversee equipment, inventory, fields, and program areas.
- Maintain first aid supplies for programs.
- Parent Communication.
- Young Star / program evaluation / quality.
- Participate as a member of the YMCA Leadership Team and special events.
- Ensure postitive discipline practices within all areas and promote Core Values.
- Engage with the day to day operations of the program.
- Visit sites on regular basis to monitor and ensure all YMCA health and safety standards and policies are met.
- Responsible for program quality as measured through parent and child surveys and site visits.
- Work with Food Program requirements and ensure compliance.
Educational Background:
At least 2 years of supervisory or administrative experience in an organized camp or children’s program. OR Bachelor’s degree in outdoor education, recreation, psychology, social work, child development, or education in another camp related field.
Skills/Experience:
- 21 years of age
- Current, CPR and First Aid, will provide if needed
- Program Management experience, budget development and leadership experience
- The ability to continually develop and grow programs.
- Previous supervisory experience with the ability to meet deadlines, schedule, coach and develop staff.
- Ability to interact with a diverse population.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as proficient in Microsoft office software’s.
- This employee must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, nights, weekends or holidays as needed.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $32,000.00 - $36,000.00
